Community members from Central Ohio will be coming together to host a forum to discuss the issues of predatory lending and its negative effects on our communities. Participants will hear from a panel of experts including those with experience in finance, non-profit organizations, government, faith-based communities, and those with first-hand knowledge who have taken out a payday or auto title loan. The event is meant to help individuals learn about the issues, use their voice, affect change, and identify alternatives through a new, low interest program.
At the forum we will not only learn about the problem of predatory loans but also about what our community response can be, including supporting positive changes to policy (support of HB 123 in the Ohio House) and the development of an alternative lending program just starting in Delaware, Fairfield, Franklin, and Ross Counties sponsored by the Society of St. Vincent de Paul.
